Raytheon Awarded Major Patriot Engineering Support
Tewksbury MA (SPX) Mar 10, 2008 Raytheon has been awarded a U.S. Army contract modification worth $115 million to provide engineering services in support of the Patriot Air and Missile Defense program, the premier air and missile defense system for the U.S. and its allies. "This award is just another indication of the resurgence of Patriot as the reliable and flexible cornerstone of the U.S. Army's integrated air defense system," said Pete Franklin, vice president, National and Theater Security Programs for Raytheon Integrated Air Defense Systems. "As prime contractor for the Patriot system, we are committed to ensuring that this critical capability is available for the protection of our nation's allies as well. These upgrades are a testament to the continuing operational flexibility of this combat- proven system." This contract, which represents a significant example of international cooperation, calls for engineering services to be performed to support the US Army and Foreign Military Sales cases for Germany, The Netherlands, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Japan, Israel, Kuwait, Spain, Taiwan, and Greece. Work will be performed by Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems at the Integrated Air Defense Center, Andover, Mass.; the Warfighter Protection Center, Huntsville, Ala.; and the Mission Capability and Verification Center, White Sands, N.M. Raytheon Company is the prime contractor for the Patriot system and the integrator for all variants of the system sold both domestically and internationally. Raytheon ensures that all Patriot system components provide our nation's protectors with a reliable and highly effective capability to defeat threats in current and future combat environments.
