Russia launches military satellite: report

Moscow (AFP) April 16, 2010
Russia on Friday successfully launched a military satellite into space from its military spacedrome of Plesetsk, Russian news agencies reported.

"A Soyuz rocket that launched at 1900 Moscow time (1500 GMT) from Plesetsk successfully carried a Russian military satellite into orbit," a Russian space official was quoted as saying.

The launch was the second this year of a Russian military satellite. In January, a Proton-M rocket carrying a Raduga statellite blasted off from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
