SeaMobile To Provide Satellite Communication Solutions Onboard Royal Caribbean Ships
Seattle WA (SPX) Mar 28, 2008 SeaMobile Enterprises has that it has been awarded a multi-year contract extension with Royal Caribbean Cruises to provide its MTN VSAT satellite communication services. The agreement includes fleet-wide services for the Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Cruises brands. The agreement calls for SeaMobile's MTN Satellite Services division to provide global C-Band communications services for all new ships introduced during the length of the contract extension, including additional communication services for crew members. As part of the agreement, MTN has expanded its network to meet growing bandwidth requirements and the needs for extended global cruise itineraries. The global VSAT satellite communications network offered by MTN Satellite Services is "Always-On, Always-Available" and designed for the rugged maritime industry. Royal Caribbean has been a customer of MTN Satellite Services for 10 years and worked with the company to jointly launch the cruise industry's first ships with redundant C-Band antenna systems for maximum reliability.
